About the performer
Peter Erskine
A drummer since age four and a professional since 1972, the prolific New Jersey native has amassed over 500 recording, touring, and film score credits. The two-time Grammy winner is adept in virtually all musical forms, from traditional jazz (Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson) to fusion and electric (Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Joe Zawinul) and with an eclectic mix of contemporary artists (Gary Burton & Pat Metheny, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Diana Krall). Erskine is on the music faculty at the University of Southern California. He is active as a composer (commissioned works for the Hilliard Ensemble, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and the BBC) as well as an author. His most recent book is Time Awareness for All Musicians, and his newest album is the Fuzzy Music CD Standards, which was nominated for a Grammy.
