RAYNOR CARROLL joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as Co-Principal Percussionist/Timpanist in the 1983/84 season. In addition to his performances at Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts, Carroll participates in the LA Phil’s Green Umbrella and Chamber Music series. Mr. Carroll also records motion picture soundtracks for Hollywood studio composers such as Maurice Jarre, David Newman, Arthur Rubinstein, Alan Silvestri, Todd Cochran, and Terence Blanchard. In addition to performing, Carroll is an active teacher/clinician on timpani, percussion, and West African drumming. He taught for nearly 20 years at his alma mater, California State University Los Angeles, and has taught at the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles Music Academy, and California State University Long Beach. Carroll currently teaches at the University of California at Los Angeles.
