About the performer

Rina Dokshitsky

Israeli pianist RINA DOKSHITSKY gave her first solo appearance at age thirteen, performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. At age twenty-one, Dokshitsky won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and consequently made her debut recital at the 92nd Street Y and Kennedy Center. Two years later she received fifth place at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition and was awarded a special prize as the best Israeli performer.

Dokshitsky has performed extensively as a solo recitalist and her orchestra appearances have included the Israel Philharmonic, the Jerusalem Symphony, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the New England Conservatory Symphony, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Lake Charles Symphony, the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and the Santa Monica Symphony. She has also collaborated in chamber music ensembles at international music festivals with such artists as Joshua Bell, Carter Brey, Steven Isserlis, Suren Bagratuni, Joseph Swenson, Douglas Boyd, Scott Nickrenz, Colin Carr, Laurence Lesser, Masuko Ushioda, and Miriam Fried. Festival appearances have included performing at Spoleto Festival in the U.S. and Italy, Chamber Music East, Grand Teton Festival and Ravinia Festival. She often has collaborated with cellist Alban Gerhardt with whom she performed at 92nd Street Y, Kennedy Center, Casals Festival in Puerto Rico, and on a tour of Japan. She also recorded a CD with Gerhardt under the EMI label.

Dokshitsky is also passionately dedicated to her teaching and is highly sought after as a piano teacher. She has given master classes at the University of Northwestern Michigan, the University of Connecticut, the University of Texas, the University of Iowa, and Bank St. College. She resides in Los Angeles and regularly collaborates with the Rossetti String Quartet and with violinist Henry Gronnier.
