Part of CE1 Colburn Celebrity Series 1
Sir András Schiff, piano
Bach: English Suites
About This Performance
Likely the first set of keyboard suites Bach ever composed, the “English” Suites got their name by a chance association years after Bach was dead. The music is actually more French in the styles of the time, and has much in common with the suites for solo cello that Bach composed about the same time.
Hungarian pianist Sir András Schiff, who won a Grammy for his recording of the English Suites.
