About This Performance
The organ thrillingly expands the sonic mass of Saint-Saëns' immortal Third Symphony (which also includes a part for piano four-hands). USC composer (and recent Grammy winner) Stephen Hartke extends that repertoire with a work specifically inspired by the Walt Disney Concert Hall organ.
Come for: 6,134 pipes' worth of musical power join the full orchestra when we celebrate Walt Disney Concert Hall's grandest resident instrument with an organ extravaganza.
And more: Audacious arranger and performer Cameron Carpenter plays his organ adaptation of Scriabin's Piano Sonata No. 4.
Friday night's concert marks the first in our Inside the Music with Brian Lauritzen series. Designed and hosted by KUSC's award-winning classical radio personality himself, each performance offers a multi-layered experience including a video episode emailed before each performance; pre- and post-concert discussions with host and artists; and an online game to show off your mastery of classical music.
Programs, artists, dates, prices and availability subject to change.
