Adams: Available Light
About This Performance
This new production of the event that opened the Temporary Contemporary (Geffen/MOCA) 31 years ago will reunite the original creative triumvirate: a company of 12 dancers, performing to John Adams’ original tape score, will bring to life Lucinda Childs’ re-imagined choreography on a set newly designed by Frank Gehry.
Following the Friday, June 5 performance, “Available Light – Creators in Conversation” reunites choreographer Lucinda Childs, composer John Adams and architect Frank Gehry in a discussion about the evolution of Available Light. This conversation is free and open to ticket holders.
The 2015 revival of Available Light was commissioned by Cal Performances, University of California, Berkeley; Festspielhaus St. Pölten; FringeArts, Philadelphia, with the support of The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage; Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association; Onassis Cultural Centre - Athens; and Théâtre de la Ville - Paris and Festival d'Automne à Paris.
Available Light was developed at MASS MoCa (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art).
