Part of CE1 Colburn Celebrity Series 1
Yefim Bronfman, piano
About This Performance
Long a local favorite and a member of the LA Phil extended family, Bronfman won a Grammy for his recording of the three Bartók Piano Concertos with Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Philharmonic, with whom he has also recorded Salonen’s own Piano Concerto, as well as the two Shostakovich Concertos. He returns for the first performance anywhere of Salonen’s Sisar, a capricious shadow piece to Salonen’s orchestral Nyx. (Salonen conducts the LA Phil in Nyx earlier this season, Dec. 7-9.)
