About this Performance

Singer and songwriter Mon Laferte is one of the most revered, respected, and beloved musicians in Chile today. Her music brings the sonic traditions of her native country and Mexico, where she lives, with the maximalist punch of globally minded pop music, while her lyrics powerfully address the issues facing women, people of color, and the impoverished in Latin America. Defiantly outspoken, she’s also the winner of three Latin Grammys—including one for Best Alternative Song for her 2017 collaboration with Juanes, “Amárrame”—and is the most highly decorated Chilean artist in the history of the awards. Her most recent album, Seis, was written in the mountains of Tepoztlán, Mexico, and is inspired both by the Mexican singer Chavela Vargas, whose songs freely celebrated love between women, and the 2019 protests against human rights abuses in Chile. Don’t miss the striking Walt Disney Concert Hall debut from one of Latin America’s boldest musicians.
