Beckmen YOLA Center
Designed by the late Frank Gehry, the Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen YOLA Center (BYC) is home to YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) at Inglewood. It also offers space for music educators to come together, share ideas, and learn from one another, in addition to serving as a cultural resource and community hub for the city of Inglewood. BYC was made possible by a leadership gift from Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen.

Come Make Music with Us!
Does your child live in Inglewood, and are they currently in grade 1-6? Is your child interested in learning an instrument in a supportive music community? Fill out our Enrollment Form to express interest.
At the Beckmen YOLA Center, you’ll find:
- YOLA at Inglewood. BYC is home to YOLA at Inglewood and is the first permanent building designed specifically for YOLA programs.
- Music Learning and Performance. Students attend YOLA classes, rehearse together, record music, and perform—both in person and through livestreams and distance-learning technology that connects students across all YOLA sites.
- National and Visiting Programs. Each year, BYC hosts YOLA National, bringing together music students, educators, and youth development leaders from across the country.
- Teaching and Training. Music teachers from around the U.S. and around the world gather here for workshops, training, and shared learning.
- Community Use. Beckmen YOLA Center is a space for the Inglewood community. As the building grows into its role, community members will help shape its future as a creative, learning, and gathering place.

The Creation of the YOLA Beckmen Center
The Judith and Thomas L. Beckmen YOLA Center at Inglewood is the boldest step yet in YOLA’s mission of youth development through music education. The 25,000-square-foot Beckmen YOLA Center is the program’s fifth site, a central hub for YOLA, and a haven dedicated to music education and the empowerment of every young musician who walks through its doors.

The Beckmen YOLA Center Workforce Development Program
In partnership with the IATSE Local 33 Union, the LA Phil and Beckmen YOLA Center provides young professionals the opportunity to join the union and build a career in stagecraft via the Workforce Development Program.
