Through education, accessible performances, and local partnerships, the LA Phil supports Los Angeles communities, nurturing the creative spirit and cultural vibrancy of the city that inspires us.
Music Education
Music education builds a lifelong love of music and teaches young people self-confidence, teamwork, as well as leadership skills. YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angles) offers free instruments and intensive education to 1,700 young musicians in LA County, supporting over 230 jobs and cultivating future generations of artists and audiences. Other programs like Symphonies for Schools invite tens of thousands of students to Walt Disney Concert Hall for specially designed programs with supplemental teaching materials.

Neighborhood Outreach
The LA Phil strives to be a good neighbor by working closely with those living near our venues to ensure the impact from our performances is minimized. Additionally, our Neighborhood Concerts bring the Los Angeles Philharmonic to perform in community spaces across LA County.

Cultural Engagement
While the LA Phil works with musicians from around the world, we are continually inspired by the thriving artistic community in Los Angeles. That is why the LA Phil actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with and invest in LA artists through education and community residencies or initiatives like our FordLab Producers Program, a six-month intensive that offers production mentorship, marketing support, and financial support to bring local arts groups to perform at The Ford.
The LA Phil is part of the very fabric of Los Angeles, and we are proud to contribute to LA’s thriving economy and vibrant community. The LA Phil’s impact is only possible thanks to the collective efforts of artists, audiences, civic leaders, donors, and partners who believe in the value of culture in public life.
Accessible and enriching performances
The LA Phil collaborates with community organizations across LA County, including offering free concert tickets to more than 100 groups such as senior centers, health service providers, homeless shelters, adult schools, AIDS service centers, foster care organizations, and many more.
