About this Performance
Join Gustavo Dudamel, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and the LA Phil for a special performance of John Williams’ magnificent cello concerto along with selections from his extraordinary canon of film music.
In addition to his film work, Williams has contributed a wealth of distinctive and celebrated compositions for the concert hall, including his lyrical and evocative concerto for cello and orchestra. Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, “the best-known, most versatile music soloist in this country and perhaps in the world” (The Washington Post), opens the program with this acclaimed 1994 work that was composed especially for him.
This performance is generously supported by Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
