About this Performance
Revered for his seemingly infinite range, “Yefim Bronfman pushes hard at the boundaries of what is possible on the piano” (The Seattle Times). He returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall for a recital showcasing just that with a selection of Romantic and Impressionist solo works.
Bronfman takes on Debussy’s Javanese-gamelan-inspired Images and revisits Brahms’ Third Piano Sonata, a piece he recorded in 1987 and has reimagined over the decades.
Praising the veteran musician’s expertise on the Arabeske, the Los Angeles Times said that Schumann’s masterwork “[flies] by as if on gossamer wings, Bronfman’s brawny fingers seeming somehow to barely brush the keys, as though there were nothing to it.”
This series is generously supported by the Colburn Foundation.
