About this Performance
LA Phil Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and guest conductor Jessica Rivero Altarriba lead a performance by YOLA National Symphony Orchestra featuring richly illustrated works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Manuel de Falla, Gustav Mahler, and Dámaso Pèrez Prado. The evening begins with the debut of the YOLA National Overture Chamber Music Program.
This free performance is part of YOLA National Festival: Power in Storytelling, a 14-day orchestra intensive that brings together young musicians from El Sistema-inspired programs nationwide, providing them with world-class music instruction and mentorship. The program, including travel, lodging, and all instruction, is entirely free for all participants.
This year's festival, titled Power in Storytelling, showcases the inaugural YOLA National Festival Chamber Music Programs! The YOLA National Symphony and Overture Chamber Music programs offer supplemental weeklong intensives dedicated to chamber music ensemble training for our highest-level orchestral musicians. Over the course of the intensive musicians receive specialized coaching from our esteemed chamber music faculty, as well as structured rehearsal and technique workshops to strengthen their performance skills. We are ecstatic to welcome these new ensembles to YOLA National Festival!
Performances take place in Walt Disney Concert Hall and are two hours long with a 15-minute intermission. Space is limited. Reserve FREE tickets to this event now!
