Legendary rapper Rakim discusses his new book, Sweat the Technique: Revelations on Creativity from the Lyrical Genius, and Hip-Hop’s role in contemporary activism with cultural critic, journalist, and activist Bakari Kitwana and Gaye Theresa Johnson, associate professor of African American Studies and Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. The conversation is moderated by Tyree Boyd-Pates, humanities curator of the Power to the People! festival. Books will be available for purchase courtesy of Eso Won Books.
