BERNIE DRESEL currently holds the drum chair for the Grammy-nominated Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band. For 15 years prior, he was the drummer for the Grammy-winning Brian Setzer Orchestra. His popular funk band BERN plays once a month at Cafe Cordiale in Sherman Oaks. Modern Drummer magazine’s readers poll named him “Best Big Band Drummer” and Drum magazine has put him on their list of “53 Drummers Who Made a Difference in the ’90s” as well as honoring him with a 2002 Drummie for Best Big Band Drummer.

Dresel is also busy with L.A. session work as a versatile drummer and percussionist. He has recorded/performed with Ben Vereen, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Maynard Ferguson, David Byrne, The Rippingtons, Chaka Khan, Clare Fischer, Doc Severinson, Philip Bailey, Jeff Lorber, David Lindley, Keiko Matsui, Dolly Parton, and Andy Summers. In addition, Bernie has played on TV scores such as Knot’s Landing; Dallas; Suddenly Susan; Jag; Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise; The Simpsons; American Dad, Family Guy; The Cleveland Show; Pinky and the Brain; Animaniacs; and King of the Hill. You can also hear him on movie scores such as The Hulk, The Bourne Supremacy, Mission Impossible 3, Ratatouille, Speed Racer, and Star Trek.

Dresel holds a BM in Performance and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music and teaches at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
