Bass-baritone DEREAU K. FARRAR (Frazier) is currently the Resident Music Director for Epic Megalopolis Productions and their production of JUNK: A Rock Opera. He also serves as the Music Director for Pasadena’s Selah Gospel Choir and the Assistant Conductor for the Verdi Chorus in Santa Monica. Additionally, he sings professionally with the historic Santa Barbara Choral Society, San Diego’s brand new Sacra/Profana, and the internationally acclaimed Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers of Los Angeles. His other recent work has been with Lyric Opera of Chicago, LA Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, the California Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Nova in Santa Monica, Intimate Opera Company in Arcadia, the Repertory Opera Company in Los Angeles, the Bear Valley Music Festival, and the Classical Singers Association in Los Angeles.

Farrar is looking forward to his upcoming work with the Los Angeles Choral Artists and Booksicals Children’s Musical Theater in Beverly Hills. He has served as the Celebration Arts Minister and director of the a cappella worship team at Pasadena Church of Christ, section leader and cantor at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montrose, and the church choral conductor of the Warehouse service of Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena. Additionally, he is a Teaching Artist with LA Opera’s Education and Outreach programs, was recently the voice and choir teacher for the Harmony Project in Hollywood, and has worked extensively with the choral programs at West Covina High School, Pasadena Waldorf School, and Duarte Unified School District, and with Duarte’s award-winning youth gospel choir, Rejoyce.
