About this Artist
Born: 1981, Alfred, New York
“For me, it’s very important to be in touch with my initial idea and to be able to whittle it down to its very essence.”
Hannah Lash studied at the Eastman School of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale University, and Harvard (Ph.D.); she teaches now at the Yale School of Music. Her primary teachers include Martin Bresnick, Bernard Rands, Julian Anderson, and Robert Morris. Many of her works feature the harp, an instrument that she plays herself. Her music has been performed by the JACK Quartet, eighth blackbird, the Da Capo Chamber Players, and the Minnesota Orchestra; the Jupiter Quartet will premiere a new work of hers this summer at the Aspen Festival.
