The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra

About this Artist

Founded in 1997, in memory of the late Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar award-winning composer Henry Mancini, the HMI's mission is to nurture the future of music by providing comprehensive professional training and multi-level outreach programs that make a direct impact on people's lives. The Institute's renowned Summer Program for Emerging Professional Musicians provides full scholarships, including room and board at UCLA, for 85 of the world's most musically talented 18-to-33-year-olds. This four-week intensive training program includes master classes, seminars, panel discussions, rehearsals, recording sessions, and performances as part of the citywide HMI Free Summer Music Festival. Additionally, the Institute conducts year-round music education programs and concerts in Los Angeles-area elementary and secondary schools, reaching over 15,000 students. Supported primarily by individual donors, the Henry Mancini Institute is a 501 (c) (3) that welcomes all community members interested in sharing and promoting the joy of music.
