Finnish-American baritone TIMOTHY MIX (Caliban) begins this season with the world premiere of Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi’s The Last American Hammer with Urban Arias in Washington, D.C., and remains on home territory for an American premiere of Alexander Zhurbin’s song cycle Tsvetaeva with the Russian Chamber Art Society. In an international house and role debut, Tim will appear as Albert in Werther with the Bergen National Opera and he rounds out the season with another role debut: Joseph De Rocher in Dead Man Walking at Opera Delaware.

At the Santa Fe Opera, Tim’s debut in 2016 as Count Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, directed by Stephen Lawless, was the first of several engagements there; he returned the following season for the role of Tsar Dodon in Paul Curran’s production of Le Coq d’Or, and most recently appeared as Jack Hubbard in a new production of Dr. Atomic. His San Francisco Opera appearances include Le Bret in Cyrano de Bergerac in 2010, Elder Ott/Olin Blitch in Susannah in 2014, and de Brétigny in Manon in 2017. His engagements with Washington National Opera include Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera and Ford in Falstaff (a role he also sant at New York City Opera). Tim’s international engagements include Escamillo in Carmen at Finnish National Opera.

 Tim frequently appears in concert in Russian repertoire with the Russian Chamber Art Society of Washington, D.C., and with them he recently added the title role in Eugene Onegin to his repertoire. He also has a broad repertoire of Finnish song which he has presented in recital, and his concert appearances include the role of Ping in Turandot with the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Gustavo Dudamel.
