ADELINE NEWMANN is a Los Angeles based animator, video designer, VJ, and audiovisual artist. Her work has shown across the United States and internationally, including performances at REDCAT, Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, The Broad Stage, Highways Performance Space, and The Wulf in Los Angeles, The New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, PACT Zollverein (Germany), Tallinn Music Week (Estonia), Estonian Music Days, and Mutant Stalker Festival (Estonia).

Notable pieces include a visual interpretation of Mario Davidovsky’s “Synchronisms No. 6,” experimental short film “darkwater,” and projected visuals for pianist Vicki Ray’s composition “The Waking.”

She creates animated video content for music performance and specializes in ambient animation and visual music. She also works as a video designer, programmer, and video technician in theatre, opera, and dance.

Adeline grew up in Trélex, Switzerland and Half Moon Bay, California. She attended St. Ignatius College Prep High School in San Francisco, and graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2012 with a BFA in Experimental Animation.

After “200 Motels,” Adeline is looking forward to continuing her international audiovisual collaborations with Estonian electronic music duo algorütmid and Estonian composer Markus Robam, and continuing work with experimental filmmaker Janice Tanaka. Read more at adelinenewmann.com
