New York City-based composer and music journalist FRANK J. OTERI is the American Music Center’s Composer Advocate and the Founding Editor of its web magazine, NewMusicBox (www.newmusicbox.org). For NewMusicBox he has interviewed over 100 composers and other leading figures in the new music scene. Oteri's writing about music have also appeared in Chamber Music magazine, Symphony, Time Out New York, and the Revised New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and his musical compositions have been performed in venues ranging from Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall to the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2005, his performance oratorio MACHUNAS, created in collaboration with Lucio Pozzi and inspired by the life of Fluxus-founder George Maciunas, was staged in Vilnius, Lithuania. His Imagined Overtures, for rock band in 36-tone equal temperament, has been performed locally by the The Los Angeles Electric 8.
