A major stage personality noted for his incisive and provocative interpretations, baritone LOUIS OTEY performs with leading opera companies throughout the world. This season’s engagements include Danilo in The Merry Widow for Utah Opera, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore with Canadian Opera, the title role in Macbeth with Manitoba Opera, and Germont in La Traviata with Opera Pacific. Otey will also join the roster of the Metropolitan Opera this season for The Merry Widow. A noted interpreter of Menotti’s music, he has performed the role of John Sorel in The Consul for Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Italy, and at the Edinburgh Festival, Donato in Maria Golovin for the Greek National Opera and the Spoleto Festival U.S.A., the three male roles in La Loca for the Spoleto Festival, the title role in The Last Savage, and the world premiere of Goya at the Kennedy Center, telecast live on PBS. He makes his Hollywood Bowl debut this summer.
