Mary Preston

About this Artist

Electric drive and rhythmic certainty set MARY PRESTON apart from among the finest concert organists of her generation. She has performed in such notable locations as the Riverside Church in New York City, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the Merseburg Cathedral and St. Hedwig Cathedral in Berlin, St. Nikolai Church in Leipzig, Oliwa Cathedral in Poland, and the Lichtenstein Palace in Prague. She has performed the inaugural recitals on the new C.B. Fisk organ of the Minato Mirai Concert Hall in Yokohama, Japan, and with the Chicago Symphony on Orchestra Hall's the new organ.

As Resident Organist and Principal/Lay Family Chair with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Curator of the Lay Family Concert Organ (the C.B. Fisk Op. 100) at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Preston regularly performs organ concertos with the Dallas Symphony and the DSO Brass. She performed with the DSO in Carnegie Hall during the 1998/99 season and at the 2004, 1994, and 1988 national conventions of the American Guild of Organists.

Preston has released several recordings on the Meyerson Hall organ. She has also recorded for the Naxos and Reference labels.

In addition to her duties with the DSO and her numerous solo appearances, Preston also serves as Organist and Director of Worship and Artistic Ministries for King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas.

Preston graduated with honors and received her Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas and continued postgraduate study at the Eastman School of Music. She and her husband are originally from the San Francisco area. They have lived in Dallas for more than twenty years.
