ELKHANAH PULITZER directs opera and theater. Following childhood impulses to “stage” toys, environments, and people, she has passionately pursued her ongoing interest in storytelling. She has directed works for San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony, LA Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theater of St. Louis, and Canadian Opera Company, among others.
Theater directing credits include work with Impact Theater, Cutting Ball, Riverside Theater, and Ensemble Theater Company. Additionally, she serves as Artistic Curator for SF Opera Lab, an experimental and intimate new programming branch of San Francisco Opera. Pulitzer holds a BA in theater from UC Berkeley and an MFA in directing from Columbia University.
