JAMES BARBOUR recently starred opposite Tom Cavanagh and Sarah Calke in the romantic comedy Alchemy, which had its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 25, 2005. He is currently starring as “The Ghost” in the Broadway bound musical adaptation of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. He received rave reviews as Leon Czolgosz in the five-time Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins, and has starred on Broadway in such Tony Award-winning shows as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Carousel, Urinetown, and Jane Eyre (for which he was nominated for a Drama League award).
His voice can be heard on the PS Classic Grammy-nominated recording of Assassins, the Sony Classical cast recording of Jane Eyre, The Gift on Geffen Records, the Live CD recording of his self-produced stage show Back From Broadway (for which he won an LA Weekly garland award), and the upcoming release of the Frank Wildhorn concept recording of Dracula, in the title role.
His television credits range from the upcoming PBS mini-series An American Experience – John and Abigail Adams, in which he co-stars as Thomas Jefferson, to appearances on Sex and the City, Ed, the PBS Great Performances tribute to Oscar Hammerstein, and Beauty and the Beast in Concert for CBS. Film credits include Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights, Waiting For Lefty, The Tell Tale Heart, and Twinkle Toes with Sally Kirkland.
