About this Artist
MIA DOI TODD is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. From her first solo acoustic album, The Ewe and the Eye, released just as she was graduating from Yale University, to her most recent soundtrack for a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mia has distinguished herself as an artist with a unique voice and singular vision. Her ninth album, Cosmic Ocean Ship, was chosen by Ben Ratliff of The New York Times as one of the top ten records of 2011. Best known for her thoughtful and emotional songwriting, Mia has explored song interpretation in recent years and released an album of Brazilian songs and another of favorite songs in the English language. She is back to her own writing and is currently working on a new album which focuses on family and motherhood. Mia has toured the U.S., Europe, and Brazil, performing in such esteemed venues as the Hollywood Bowl and Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro. Mia has always placed great importance on fostering multi-cultural community and connecting artists from Los Angeles with the global music scene. To this end, she helped to create the new music venue, Zebulon, which opened in 2017, as a home for musicians and community in the Elysian Valley neighborhood where she grew up.
