Mezzo-soprano NADEZHDA VASILIEVA (Neighbor) graduated from St. Petersburg’s Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in 1994, studying under Professor Galina Kovaleva. In the same year she joined the Kirov Opera as principal soloist. She is a frequent performer with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic as well as the city’s other opera companies. Her opera roles include the title role in Carmen, Olga in Eugene Onegin, Lyubasha in The Tsar’s Bride, Sonyetka in Shostakovich’s Katarina Ismailova, and Azucena in Il trovatore, among others. She has participated in major tours throughout the United States (including the Metropolitan Opera), Europe, and Japan with the Kirov Opera.
