About this Artist
MATT WILSON (drums) is recognized for his
melodic drumming style as well as being
a composer, bandleader, producer, radio
host, and teaching artist. He has appeared
on more than 350 recordings as a sideman,
and he has released 14 acclaimed
recordings as a leader. His most recent
are Gathering Call with the Matt Wilson
Quartet and guest pianist John Medeski,
and An Attitude for Gratitude with another
of his quartets, Arts and Crafts. His other
ensembles are Christmas Tree-O, Topsy
Turvy, and the Carl Sandburg Project. He
has also been in bands led by Joe Lovano,
John Scofield, Lee Konitz, Bob Stewart,
Ron Miles, Ted Nash, and Dena DeRose,
among others. Wilson was recently named
the artistic director for jazz at the Tilles
Center for the Performing Arts on the C.W.
Post campus of Long Island University.
