Josiah Groot

About this Artist

Pianist and composer, Josiah Groot, born 2001, is a twelfth-grade homeschool student who attends Fullerton College as a special admit student studying composition with Dr. Bruce Miller and piano with Jeremy Siskind. He also serves as the school’s tutor for counterpoint, harmony, and musicianship courses. He formerly studied piano and music theory with Teri Watson at the Watson Piano Studio for five years. 

Josiah has received numerous composition awards including first place in MTAC’s OC North Branch Competition for “Watercolor Promenade;” first place at both MTAC’s State competition, Division IV and the OC North Branch competition, Category D for “Delusions of Grandeur;” second place in the OC North Branch competition for both “Countryside,” and “Dance of the Autumn Shadows;” and his composition “Silent Figures in a Moonless Sky” received second place in Division V at MTAC’s State Contest and first in the OC North Branch competition. He is also currently a member of the prestigious MTAC Young Composer’s Guild, composing for semi-professional paid performance opportunities through MTAC branch-sponsored concerts.
