Prior to joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic in September 2019, violinist Justin Woo has served in the St. Louis Symphony in the 2018-2019 season. He has also performed frequently with the Seattle Symphony as a substitute, as well as the New World Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Paul Kantor and Ivan Zenaty. He then received his master’s degree at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Bing Wang, Associate Concertmaster of the LA Phil.
Born and raised in Washington State, he began playing the violin at the age of eight studying under Simon James, Second Assistant Concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony.
He has participated in various festivals including the New York String Seminar, Pacific Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West.
