Praised by Opera magazine as “virtuosic and sensual, capable of both power and nuance,” Brenda Rae is a regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses in a portfolio of demanding principal roles. This season starts with an exciting debut at the Edinburgh International Festival singing Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), one of her signature roles. She then makes her long-awaited debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Queen of the Night in the much-beloved David McVicar production of The Magic Flute.

Elsewhere this season, Brenda returns to Teatro Real Madrid to sing the title role in Partenope and will appear as Countess Adèle in Rossini’s Le comte Ory, first in concert with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and then with Opernhaus Zürich. She then heads back to Munich to reprise her role as Aminta in Die schweigsame Frau at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In her first appearances at the Metropolitan Opera since being honored with the Beverly Sills Artist Award, Brenda sings Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos and Ophelia in Brett Dean’s Hamlet, both of which will be simulcast in cinemas worldwide via Met Live in HD. In the summer, she will perform in recital at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg and make her Salzburg Festival debut as Queen of the Night in a new Lydia Steyer production of The Magic Flute.
