Paul Marque

About this Artist

In December 2020, Paul Marque was made an Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet following a performance of La Bayadère (Nureyev), broadcast live on the platform “l’Opéra chez soi,” in which he performed the role of the Golden Idol on the stage of the Opera Bastille. He has taken part in the company tours in Spain (Madrid, 2019), the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, 2019), Asia (Singapore and Shanghai, 2019), and Japan (Tokyo, 2020).  

Since then, he has added to his repertoire Colas in La Fille mal gardée (Ashton), Rubies in Jewels, Concerto Barocco, The Four Temperaments, Stravinsky Violin Concerto (Balanchine), Pas de deux of the Peasants in Giselle (after Coralli and Perrot), Lensky in Onegin (Cranko), Die Grosse Fuge (De Keersmaeker), Aunis (Garnier), Scottish Pas de deux in La Sylphide (Lacotte), Gaston Rieux in La Dame aux camélias (Neumeier), Danse Napolitaine, Pas de trois, and Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Basilio in Don Quixote, the Dance Teacher in Cinderella, Bernard in Raymonda (Nureyev), A Suite of Dances and In the Night (Robbins), and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (Nureyev).

2008
Marque enters the Paris Opera Ballet School.

2014
He joins the Corps de Ballet.

2016
He is named Coryphée. He wins a gold medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition.

2017
Marque is promoted to Sujet and wins the Paris Opera Ballet’s AROP Dance Prize.

2018
He attains the rank of Premier danseur.
