About this Artist

Flutist Hilary Jones is a versatile musician and teacher performing orchestral, chamber, and commercial music. Hilary was recently the flutist for the North American Tour of Broadway’s Les Misérables and has performed with the New Jersey Symphony, Ridgefield Symphony, Riverside Symphony, Symphony in C, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, Urban Playground Chamber Orchestra, Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, Garden State Philharmonic, and Manhattan Symphonie. She holds the position of 2nd flute with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony under the direction of Maestro Eric Jacobsen. She was a young artist fellow at the Talis Festival in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, and twice a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute.

Hilary earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2017 and enjoyed focusing her chamber performance and scholarly interest on 18th-century performance practice. She performs on the modern flute, as well as the baroque flute, piccolo, recorder, and low flutes. As a teacher, she has served on the flute and chamber music faculty of New York University, Rutgers University’s Extension Division, and in various non-profit school music and outreach programs.

Hilary has also been fortunate to share her passion for flute pedagogy through masterclasses and workshops through the Northeast region, including most recently at the New Jersey Symphony’s FluteYou event and the Rochester Flute Association. She continues to enjoy teaching as a faculty member at the Diller-Quaile School of Music in New York City, as a woodwind coach for the New Jersey Youth Symphony, and in her role as a professor at Iona College, where she teaches courses in Music in World Cultures, Women in Music, and Music in Film.
