Andrés Mendoza is an enthusiastic and energetic oboist, conductor, and music educator. Born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, he obtained his initial musical instruction through El Sistema, studying oboe at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory of Music in Barquisimeto and the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music in Caracas. After more than a decade of experience in Venezuela’s network of orchestras, including serving as a principal oboist in the national orchestra, he came to the United States to further his musical education. Since 2012, Andrés has fulfilled his calling, teaching, conducting, performing, and traveling extensively throughout the US and abroad. He actively serves as a guest clinician for music festivals around the country, including collaborating with the LA Phil’s annual YOLA National Festival in Los Angeles, California. Andrés is currently a music faculty in the Department of Music at Weimar University in Weimar, California, and plays an M2 Oboe by French maker Marigaux.
