Cuban born composer Ileana Perez Velazquez has written works for numerous ensembles including Continuum Ensemble (NYC), string quartets Momenta, Cassat, Amernet, and Flux quartets (NYC), Ensemble Dal Niente (Chicago), Seraphic Fire choir (Miami), ICE (NYC), Sonor Ensemble (Madrid), Miranda Cuckson and NUNC, Insomnio Ensemble (Amsterdam), Counter) induction, Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, Talujon Percussion Ensemble (NYC), Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, Ensemble Intersection (Nashville), ensemble Nuestro Tiempo ( National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba), and ensembles from the New World Symphony and American Composers Orchestra among others. She was awarded a Fromm Music Foundation and Cintas commissions, and received several national composition awards in Cuba.

Her music has been featured regularly in numerous international festivals and concerts around the world including Sound of Americas (ACO), International Double Reed Society, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra 2001 (Philadelphia), Chicago Latino Music Festival, and Composers Now. Her participation in International festivals included Contemporary Music Festivals in Havana, Bogotá, Chile, Paraguay, Panama, and Venezuela; the Vendsyssel Festival- Denmark; at the Music Festival Counterpoint Italy, and in Milan; in Paris at the Auditorium St. German, Festival Kuraia in Bilbao, New Music International Festival of the Tres Cantos Auditorium and Festival COMA in Madrid, and Festival of Musica Española de Leon. In Mexico performances included the Foro de Musica Nueva, and in Australia at the National University in Canberra, and West Australian Academy of Performing Arts among others. Her music has also been performed in National Conferences of the SCI and the CMS, by the Chamber Music of the League of Composers NYC, at the ISCM, ICEM in Beijing, and at the IAWM Congress, among others.

Velázquez is a Professor of Composition at Williams College. Recordings of two CD portraits of her music have been released by Albany Records, and other recordings by Innova Recordings, and Urlicht Audiovisual.
