Anna Morrissey

About this Artist

She studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Christ’s College Cambridge then trained in dance and movement at Central School of Speech and Drama. Anna works across theatre, dance and opera as a director, movement director and choreographer. She founded the Royal Shakespeare Company’s inaugural movement department, was previously Artist in Residence for Historic Royal Palaces and Artistic Director at Longfield Hall - a community hub and performance venue in South East London. In 2012, Anna was Movement Assistant and Dance Captain on the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Direction credits include Barber of Seville (Nevill Holt Opera and Sage Gateshead), Carmen (Waterperry Opera Festival), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Nevill Holt Opera), Beyond the Deepening Shadows (Tower of London), Beating Heart Cadaver (The Finborough), The Taming of the Shrew (CSSD) and Julius Caesar (GSMD). Anna was Associate Director on We’re Here Because We’re Here - collaborating with Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller’s National to create this UK wide live art piece.

As lead artist, she has created All Together Alone - a dance film with The Royal Ballet and Our House is your Home for the Royal Opera House, North West (Camden People’s Theatre), Masque Arias (RSC New Work Festival), On Progress (Hampton Court and Latitude Festival) and Death of the Unicorn (Hampton Court).
