José Maya is a flamenco dancer from Madrid. He has shared the stage with international pop stars such as Marc Anthony , Beyoncé , Björk and Juan Luis Guerra and with flamenco stars such as Antonio Canales, Juan Ramírez and Farruquito. Maya performed in the Romaní French filmmaker Tony Gatliff’s film Vertiges.
Since 2007 he as has been a member of the Maestro Tomatito’s sextet and also collaborated with Vicente Amigo touring Spain and the World.
Born into a dynasty of flamenco artists such legendary dancer Fernanda Romero and singer Rafael Romero “El Gallina”, also related to recognized actor and theater director Pepe Maya and painter Antonio Maya is no surprise José has caught the eyes of flamenco aficionados and critics due to his exhilarating flamenco style.
He has participated in several flamenco festivals such as the XV Festival de Flamenco de Jerez and Festival Flamenco de la Villete in Paris with his show “Maya” which led to a successful tour throughout the USA and Canada.
