About this Artist

Marvel, 16, has been a fellow in the LA Phil’s Composer Fellowship Program since 2021. Marvel’s compositions have been described as exciting, sophisticated, powerful, nuanced, earth-shaking, and heart-wrenchingly spiritual. She is honored to be a National YoungArts Winner for Classical Composition, winner of the Penn State Ballora-Wang Young Composers Award, finalist for the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, and finalist for the International MAP Composition Award. Her compositions have been played by the Juilliard School, the Colburn School, the Southeast Symphony, and members of the LA Phil. A horn player, conductor, and pianist, Marvel has performed at the Stanford Jazz Institute, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Competition, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Zipper Hall, Royce Hall, and the Wiener Musikverein. Marvel is a senior at her high school, co-president of her school’s chapter of Tri-M National Music Honors Society and loves her dog.
