About this Artist

SAMANTHA FIGGINS (Washington, D.C.) began her dance training at the historic Jones and Haywood Ballet Academy and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. She also trained with Arthur Mitchell at Dance Theatre of Harlem residecnies at the Kennedy and summer intensives. She continued her education at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, graduating cum laude and later landing an apprenticeship with Ms. Figgins Complexions Contemporary Ballet. While there she was featured both on the cover of Dance Spirit magazine, Pointe magazine’s “10 Careers to Watch” in 2013 and can be seen in the film BOLDEN! She has also had the pleasure of working alongside Tiler Peck, film Enemy Within and Bolden! She joined Alvin Ailey in 2014. Since joining she has performed at the NMAAHC (2017) and at TEDtalk (2019).
