In Dark Trees
About this Piece
“I can remember very clearly ... this image of a dark, inky blue forest with moss hanging off and you could hear horses off in the distance all the time, these horses kind of neighing, whinnying.” In Dark Trees is a transcription of Brian Eno’s memories of Suffolk’s Rendlesham Woods. The piece was part of the album Another Green World, which marked Brian Eno’s break with the glam rock world of Roxy Music. The music moves at pace through several percussive pulses, taking in unexpected ricochets and atmospheric guitar lines reminiscent of Baroque grounds.
