Torus (L.A. premiere)
About this Piece
The composition of this piece (1997-98) was based on two basic premises: the gradual erosion of figurative elements through a constant exposure to cyclical processes of dissolution and absorption, and the continuous decline of the main temporal flow in which the piece is embedded. The image of a torus, a convex-shaped molding often located at the base of classical columns, provided a fitting image for the piece with its curved trajectories around an absent, elusive center, shaping, as it were, the contours of meaning and experience.
