Anthony’s first experience of working with musicians was as guest conductor with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops in 1978. To be clear, he was dressed as C-3PO at the time and both orchestras could certainly have played their encores without his arm waving.

But that experience gave him a taste for working alongside such excellent players. In the years that followed, he would host his fair share of space-themed concerts, often with the late Erich Kunzel conducting. It was the joy of presenting the first incarnation of Star Wars In Concert, as it travelled across North and South America, Europe and Japan, that ranks most pleasurably in his memory circuits.

A radio, stage and television actor, Anthony first stepped out onto a planet far, far away in 1976. He was entranced by Ralph McQuarrie’s design for the character, less so by the actual physicality of wearing the cumbersome costume. But the outstanding success of A New Hope in 1977 opened a door and, with The Rise of Skywalker, he has the distinction of being the only actor to appear in all eleven Star Wars films.
