Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles
Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Kareli Montoya, Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles (BFLA) has emerged as the premier Mexican folk-dance company in the United States. Renowned for its artistic excellence, authenticity, and large-scale theatrical productions, BFLA preserves and elevates Mexico’s diverse regional traditions through dynamic choreography, breathtaking costuming, and powerful storytelling that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.
BFLA achieved international acclaim through its collaboration on Disney and Pixar’s Coco. The company appeared at the 90th Academy Awards, performing the Academy Award-winning song “Remember Me” alongside Natalia Lafourcade, Gael García Bernal, and Miguel.
The company later brought the magic of the film to life in Coco Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl, now available on Disney+. BFLA has appeared at some of the nation’s most prestigious venues, including the Greek Theatre, Staples Center, SoFi Stadium, Dolby Theatre, and El Capitan Theatre.
The company’s official academy, Kareli School of Folklórico, serves as the educational foundation of BFLA in Los Angeles. Through structured training, mentorship, and community outreach, the school cultivates the next generation of folklórico dancers while preserving cultural traditions with integrity, discipline, and pride.
