Recognized for his clarity, versatility, and thoughtful musical leadership, Gustavo Gimeno has distinguished himself on the international stage with leading orchestras and opera houses.
Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since the 2020/21 season, he has also served as Music Director of Madrid’s Teatro Real since the 2025/26 season.
This season, Gimeno and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra present an impressive lineup of world-renowned soloists and repertoire featuring new commissions by Linda Catlin Smith, Kevin Lau, and Emilie Cecilia LeBel alongside masterpieces including Debussy’s La mer, Stravinsky’s Petrushka, Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben, and symphonies by Mozart, Beethoven, Sibelius, Bruckner, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and Mahler. Gimeno and the orchestra toured Spain, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Germany in 2026, sharing the stage with soloists Bruce Liu, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and Anna Prohaska.
