Hailed as “sensitive and precise” and “hauntingly beautiful” (New Classic LA), tenor JAMES ONSTAD (Don Basilio) is a versatile stage and concert performer who has appeared with such companies as the American Repertory Theater, Chicago Lyric Opera Unlimited, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Last year’s Europeras 1&2 was James’s third collaboration with The Industry. In 2015, he portrayed the Ghost of Orfeo in Hopscotch — an immersive mobile opera for 24 cars. And in 2017, he premiered the role of Ted Hinton in Andrew McIntosh’s opera Bonnie and Clyde. This past July, James made his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass under the baton of Marin Alsop. In September, he sang the title role in a production of Bernstein’s Candide with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. In March, James will present a program of French song with Le Salon des Musiques Chamber Music series in Los Angeles. And in May, he will tour with the acclaimed guitarist David Leisner.
