Liessa Son

Liessa Son is a Korean American artist born, raised, and currently based in Los Angeles. She is a freelance dancer, and explores different artistic mediums to perform various expressions. She has performed/collaborated with several choreographers/directors around LA. Her recent performances include BETTY by Taylor Donofrio, Experience by Zhihan Yang, Untitled by Zhihan Yang & Jaryd Farcon, and she will be featured in a silent film, Swan Song (2025, BUL II) by Christine Yerie Lee. In her own creative exploration, she delves into movements based on her mixed background of Korean Dance and western dance styles. Graduated from CalArts in 2021, she was introduced to several different art mediums which led her to diversify her artistic expressions. One example of her fusion work is called a little 흥 for the Little Tramp (2020), where she dances both realms of Charlie Chaplin movement vocabularies and Korean traditional dancing/drumming. She is also focusing her interdisciplinary practice through dance films, finding connections between movements and animation through each frame.
