Pacific Opera Project
Founded in 2011, Los Angeles’s Pacific Opera Project (POP) is dedicated to providing quality opera that is accessible, affordable, and ENTERTAINING. POP hosts hundreds of new opera-goers each season while welcoming back a growing number of opera enthusiasts, producing over 50 operas in 12 seasons. POP’s productions have reached over 40,000 audience members, with innovative and accessible productions such as Abduction from the Seraglio set as an episode of Star Trek, The Magic Flute AKA #Superflute – a retelling of Mozart’s classic set in the worlds of 1990s video games, La Boheme AKA “The Hipsters”, and a groundbreaking production of Madama Butterfly sung in Japanese and English.
