Sarah Jackson has held the position of Piccolo for the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2003.

Ten years prior to joining the LA Phil, in 1993, she joined the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (British Columbia, Canada). She moved on to assume the position of Assistant Principal Flute and Piccolo with that orchestra.

Jackson also taught flute and piccolo at the University of British Columbia. Jackson is a much sought-after piccolo and flute teacher, attracting students from around the world. She is also an active chamber musician, soloist, clinician, and freelance artist, and has played for numerous films, audio recordings, and TV and radio broadcasts. In addition to orchestral performance and teaching, Jackson has frequently been engaged as soloist and clinician on both flute and piccolo around the world.

Sarah is proudly a Keefe Piccolo Company piccolo artist.

The piccolo is so fantastic; it can be hauntingly beautiful, woody, earthy, and as well brilliant, light, quick, and exciting. There are so many fantastic pieces being written for piccolo now. It’s a very exciting time for the piccolo!
