Inside Berlioz' Symphonie fantastique

LA Phil musicians share their favorite moments in Berlioz' score and treat us to a private performance.

This spring, the LA Phil was slated to perform Hector Berlioz’ musical depiction of blissful love gone stark-raving mad, Symphonie fantastique. Principal Clarinet Boris Allakhverdyan, E-flat clarinet Andrew Lowy, and bass Jory Herman take us behind the scenes of the piece, sharing their favorite moments – and explaining why the E-flat clarinet is “the annoying little brother of the clarinet section.”
