FRIDAY and SATURDAY, AUGUST 12 and 13, 2011 at 8:30 PM
WHAT:
Los Amigos Invisibles join previously announced Rodrigo y Gabriela on the line-up for En Fuego at the Bowl! at the Hollywood Bowl on August 12 and 13. The band will be performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya.
Originating in Venezuela, Los Amigos Invisibles have developed their signature sound based on the “gozadera” - an irresistible fusion of Latin rhythms with fiery funk and lounge music. The band got their first break when David Byrne from the Talking Heads discovered one of their albums in a Manhattan record shop and signed them to his label: Luaka Bop. Byrne opened doors for the band across the globe and Los Amigos Invisibles soon became an international touring machine. Since their first album in 1995, Los Amigos Invisibles have recorded six studio albums and one live DVD/CD. The band’s latest effort, Commercial, was awarded a Latin Grammy for “Best Alternative Album”; the band’s fifth career Grammy nomination.
